About this Site

We are a large and growing coalition of the national and global astronomical community, with growing support from the global public. #SaveChandra.org is a community-driven, grassroots site, organized by several community astronomers over a few days in March 2024, following announcement of Chandra’s imminent cancellation in the NASA Request for FY25.

It is neither endorsed, created by, funded by, or formally affiliated in any way with NASA, the Center for Astrophysics, the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, or the Smithsonian Institution. Absolutely no part of this site was created on the taxpayer’s dime.

No statements on this site necessarily represent the opinions of the Center for Astrophysics or the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory.
